Use Your Voice - pattern and editorial illustration on intersectionality, feminism, activism, gender roles
This one started as a submission for a contest more or less one year ago, called "Say It Wear It". The contest was a collaborative project curated by the ladies working at the italian creative studio ILLO as part of the Ladies, Wine & Design initiative, a series of events inspired by the NYC-based designer Jessica Walsh with the aim of empowering women working in the creative business. My pattern was not selected for the exhibition but I'm still quite happy with it.
I always thought that the only way that we can be feminist, now more than ever, is by intersectionality. There is no women empowerment without taking into account elements like gender, race, socio-economical status, religion, cultural background, age, health and so forth.

My empowerment is not a binary matter, empowerment is not just for the proactive women seeking individual realization, it’s not empowerment if you are lifting only yourself and not making space for other voices to be heard and other women to be empowered on their terms. I like to incorporate this ideas in my work and in my values as an illustrator.
